Small Business Saturday today and I’m just back from an enlightening trip to a local Christmas market. Part research for a future shop owner, part trying-to-find-something-a-bit-different-Christmas shopping. Found some gems too which apart from one I cannot make public as for a few someones I’d be spoiling their Christmas surprise!
What I can say was how heartening it was to see people who had followed and made their dreams a reality.
One person I spoke to was a trained biologist who had also always had a love for wildlife and wildlife conservation. He decided to follow his passion by brewing his own ale where he used his knowledge of particular wildlife to create unique recipes.
I liked the Hedgehog beer “a smooth earthy taste with a prickly finish”
Not only does he channel the characteristics of the particular animal but he then ensure a portion of the proceeds are donated to a UK wildlife charity.
I love that he combines the two. Personal enjoyment of real ale and altruistic enjoyment of supporting his animal friends. Innovation through beer!
Most definitely my message of today.
In fact I this mini market exploration today has lead me to consider expanding my research to check out some local markets and connect with fellow dream followers. Obviously London is rich with different types of markets -Camden, Portobello, Greenwich and Covent Garden so they are on my list but I am also interested in the more quiet ones, out of the way, where people are trying something very different, like today.
I think inspiration may be waiting for me there.
Great post with interesting content!
Can’t wait for more!
Best wishes, R
